Buffa earned $1,000, qualified seventh
and proceeded to defeat Hal Scales of Riverview 279-227, Jim Sherlock of
Franz qualified 22nd among
the 24 qualifiers and settled for $500. In match play he downed Nick Beelaard of
George Humphry of Grosse Pointe Farms recorded the top game of 269 and the high qualifier was Fred Whitmore of Detroit in the demanding conditions which saw the last qualifier shoot a six-game total of 1,163.

BAKER DOUBLES
Jason Neiman of
The Neiman/Rathburn team was the top qualifiers with an eight-game total of 1,816 including a final game of 278. Their games in the cut down rounds were 215, 224, 202, 168, 214 and 186. The 168 game almost knocked them out of the tourney except another team shot 166.
The Neiman/Rathburn team split the top prize of $1,200.
The Kandilian/Francis team narrowly made the finals but bowled well in the cut down rounds with 217, 235, 198, 189, 224 and 237 to advance to the championship round. They took home $700.

BVL
FUNDRAISER
The
Metro Detroit USBC Association (MDUSBC) raised over $2,650 in support of the
Bowlers to Veterans Link (BVL) at a fundraiser at Sunnybrook Lanes in
The
event included bowling by 70 participants, selling of merchandise and raffles to
raise money on the night of the event.
Nineteen
local businesses and individuals were lane sponsors, which helped the total
donations.
Event
organizer Laura Dembek was very enthused with the turnout and looks forward to
bigger and better things next year.
Donations
were also received from several leagues including the Afternooners, Dearborn
Recreations Ladies, S&B Ladies Classic and Luxury Lanes Invitational
Classic.
BVL is a national nonprofit charitable organization
