BUDWEISER MICHIGAN MAJORS

Larry Walker of Garden City returned to the winner’s circle of the Budweiser Michigan Majors with a 191-178 triumph over top seeded Jim Porter of Owosso at Royal Scot Lanes in Lansing .

Walker earned the top prize of $1,200 after defeating John Nolen of Waterford Township 212-199 to advance to the championship round.

Nolen beat Art Brown of Lansing 216-171 and Jeff Roche of Dearborn 213-209 in preliminary action.

Porter shot the top nine-game qualifying score of 2,046 and took home $600.

Nolen cashed for $500 and was joined by other Oakland County bowlers Mitch Jabczenski of Novi ($210) and Rob Raymond of Novi ($130) in the cashers list.

The next MMBA event will be Oct. 21 at Candelite Lanes in Bridgeport .

BOWLERS EDUCATION CLINIC

The time is near to get out and tune up your game for the season.

Five Star Lanes in Sterling Heights and Plaza Lanes in Plymouth will host the Bowler’s Education Clinic series featuring PBA stars Brian Voss and Norm Duke on Saturday, Oct. 14 and Sunday, Oct. 15 respectively.

The clinic is for adult and youth bowlers of all abilities from beginners to advanced.

The adult clinic will be held from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at a cost of $99 per session and the youth will be from 12 noon until 5 p.m. for $49. There is a discount available for registering and paying by Oct. 7.
