NATIONAL SENIOR BOWLING ASSOCIATION

 

Enrico Odorico of Macomb won the National Senior Bowling Association event at Cherry Hill Lanes in Dearborn Heights with a 248-193 triumph over Larry Walker of Garden City.

 

Odorico won the top prize of $1,000. He qualified 15th in the field of 70 and defeated Rick Capaldi of Canton 225-182, Jim Rock of Kalamazoo 236-227, Chuck Bork of Bay City 220-205 and Nick Beelaard of Canada 213-208 to advance to the championship match.

 

Walker took home $500 after qualifying 13th and beating Thomas Murphy of St. Clair Shores 243-197, Ken Lang of Eastpointe 227-215, Hugo Enriquez of Wayne 257-235 and Jim Dechnik of Kalamazoo 255-226.

 

Jim Rock had the high game with 300 and Ed DeBlock of Canada shot an 802 series. Dan Mytty of Livonia was the top qualifier.

 

The only Oakland County cashers were Dave Eatmon of Ferndale for $90 and Bill Haynes of Rochester Hills for $90.

 

The next NSBA Tournament will be May 12 at Skore Lanes in Taylor .

BUDWEISER MICHIGAN MAJORS

 

Tom Smallwood of Saginaw became the 14th member in the history of the Budweiser Michigan Majors to win back-to-back title when he won his seventh title with a 202-183 win over top seed Mason Brantley of Detroit .

 

Smallwood won the top prize of $1,200 and an additional $100 as top qualifier and earning the third seed for the stepladder finals. To reach the championship match he beat Dale Strike of Saginaw 269-184. The title was Smallwood’s second of the season.

 

Brantley took home $600.

 

Earlier Strike beat Ernie Segura Jr. of Taylor 215-191 and Jeff Roche of Dearborn 213-175 to advance.

 

Strike earned $500, Roche $400 and Segura $300.

 

John Nolen of Waterford Township paced the Oakland contingent cashing for $180 and Robert Siegers of Oxford took home $100.
