NATIONAL SENIOR BOWLING ASSOCIATION

 

Bill Stewart of Plainwell won his first National Senior Bowling Association title with a 220-215 win over Enrico Odorico of Clinton Township at Troy Lanes in Troy .

 

Stewart took home the top prize of $1,000 after qualifying 18th and beating George Lane of Chesterfield 208-181, Jim Rock of Kalamazoo 206-202, Arnie Goldman of Inkster 245-181 and Dave Eatmon of Ferndale 225-201 on his way to the championship match.

 

Odorico qualified eighth and beat Dennis Korkoske of East Lansing 236-222, George Paynich of Portage 255-175 and Mark Hatchigian of Novi 195-159 en route to the final match. He took home $500.

 

Tom Spigelmoyer of Kalamazoo was the top qualifier and Larry Walker of Garden City recorded the top game of the competition with 289.

 

Eatmon and Hatchigian were the top Oakland cashers with $200 each. Other locals were Len Kersten of Clarkston and Jerry Owczarski of South Lyon with $100 each.

 

The next NSBA event will be a member/member doubles tournament on Sept. 8 at Taylor Lanes in Taylor .
