B. J. Galloway of Alpena won the National Senior Bowling Association event at Oak Lanes in Westland with a 245-223 triumph over Larry Walker of Garden City and took home the top prize of $1,000. Walker settled for the runner-up check of $500.

 

En route to the championship match Galloway qualified 14th in the field then beat Bob Caliguire of Wyandotte 226-199, Ron Burgess of Plymouth 220-160, John Emil of St. Clair Shores 249-193 and Jim Rock of Kalamazoo 203-198.

 

Walker was the top qualifier and bested Bob Noonan of Whitehouse , Ohio 256-243, Dan Mayer of Waterford Township 231-204 and Larry Best of Brownstown Township 247-207.

 

Wayne Murray of Grand Blanc recorded the top game of the event with 269. The low to cash position was 1,234 for six games.

 

Dan Mayer of Waterford Township and Jerry Owczarski of South Lyon cashed for $140 each and Phil Horowitz of West Bloomfield for $100 as the Oakland County cashers.

CAN-AM BAKER DOUBLES

 

Branden Dale of Eastpointe and Arnie Goldman of Inkster defeated the team of Nick Wissinger of Utica and Mark Moore of Macomb 40-39 in a two-frame rolloff after tying 248-248 to win the Can-Am Baker Doubles at Taylor Lanes in Taylor.

 

The Dale/Goldman duo qualified sixth with an eight-game total of 1,725 and a high game of 268. They reached the finals with games of 246, 185, 238, 244, 214 and 215 in the cut down rounds. They cashed for $1,200.

 

The Wissinger/Moore team qualified second with 1,766 and a high game of 289. They bowled games of 225, 269, 238, 246, 209 and 222 in the cut down rounds to advance to the championship match. The Wissinger/Moore team settled for $600.

 

Oakland County was represented by Eric Tulley of Southfield who team with Brian Hatcher of Roseville to split $420 and Ken Rogers of Southfield teamed with Lonnie Jones of Ann Arbor to split $120.

 

The next Can-Am Baker Doubles event will be an Over/Under 50 tournament at Oak Lanes in Westland .
