VOSS AND DUKE HEADLINE TEACHING CLINICS

 

Professional bowlers Brian Voss and Norm Duke will headline a comprehensive bowling training package on Oct. 13-14 at Five Star Lanes in Sterling Heights and Taylor Lanes in Taylor respectively.

 

Voss, a 25-year member of the Professional Bowlers Association with 25 PBA titles, and Duke, a 25-year member of the PBA with 26 PBA titles, will conduct the training with help from certified coaches.

 

The full day of training for adults includes form, balance, timing, hand positions, release, adapting to changing lane conditions and more. The 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. adult session costs $109 which includes continental breakfast and lunch. A shorter session for youth 14 years and under costs $69 and lasts from 12 noon – 5 p.m.

 

All participants will also receive a $10 voucher good towards the 2007 Denny’s PBA Motor City Classic pro-am entry or televised finals ticket at Taylor Lanes, Oct. 31 – Nov. 4.

 

Voss has the distinction of winning at least one title in 13 straight seasons, career earnings over two million dollars, PBA Player of the Year in 1988 and inducted into the PBA Hall of Fame in 1994.

 

Duke has appeared in at least one televised finals each year since 1990, won the ABC Masters in 1993, PBA Player of the Year in 1994 and 2000 and inducted into the ABC Hall of Fame in 2002.

BUDWEISER MICHIGAN MAJORS

 

Kerry Kreft of Warren will join the Budweiser Michigan Majors Hall of Fame during ceremonies on Nov. 17 at Cherry Hill Lanes in Dearborn Heights .

 

Kreft garnered 51 points from the 12-man election committee easily surpassing the 42 points required for election.

 

Kreft has been a member of the MMBA for 15 years winning seven titles. He won Sterling , Doubles and the 26th Annual Championship tournament in 1993; LeFevre and the Match Game Championship in 1995; Astro in 1996 and Doubles in 1997. Additionally he was the leading money winner on the circuit in 1993 and 1995.

 

He has cashed in 54 events, making the finals in 29 of them and stands ninth on the all-time money standings. He carries a lifetime MMBA average of 216 over 1,021 games and has bowled four 300 games in MMBA competition.

 

Adding Kreft to the hall of fame will swell the number honored to 56.

 

The Championship tournament will be dedicated to Ken Hochstein of Commerce Township , a long time friend and promoter of the Budweiser Michigan Majors.
