MDUSBC WOMENS CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS

 

The 2008 edition of the Metro Detroit USBC Association Women’s Championships concluded recently at Sterling Lanes in Sterling Heights with many happy lady bowlers earning recognition and prize checks.

 

Each event of the tournament is divided into 3 average based divisions (170 and up; 150 to 169; and 149 and below) with winners determined in each division and each event.

 

In the Division 1 team handicap the Larke Wood Floor Service won with 3,555 for a nice prize of $1,300. Susan Elliott of Warren captained the quintet which included Sue Ann Giordano of St. Clair Shores , Theresa Nieman of Warren, Mary Lewis of Macomb and Nancy Trousdale of Madison Heights .

 

The Rock Stars paced Division 2 with 3,604 and cashed for $1,500. Kristy Allison of Fraser joined with teammates Bridget Wagner of Chesterfield , Kimberly Rider of Clinton Township , Sharon Burgan of Warren and Cynthia Ludeman of Chesterfield .

 

Helen Ullman of Warren captained the Brew Crew to the Division 2 team championship with 3,662 good for $1,400. Others on the team were Lisa Roelfs of Commerce Township, Debra Ullman of Royal Oak, Laura Tamachaski of Clawson and Beatrice Phillips of Leonard.

 

The top team actual was recorded by the Dilaura Brothers team with 3,114. Kristy King of Sterling Heights captained the team which included Jennifer Churchill of Windsor , Angela Wilt of Westland , Novella Daniels of Harper Woods and Michelle Ewald of Clinton Township . They took home the top prize of $500.

 

Sue Ann Giordano and Susan Elliott paced the Division 1 doubles handicap with 1,518 for $800, Sheri Fillip of Dearborn Heights and Shirley Giles of Madison Heights in Division 2 with 1,492 for $700 and Debra Ullman of Royal Oak and Helen Ullman of Warren in Division 3 with 1,533 for $600. Jeanesta Fossett of Livonia and Virginia Austin of Detroit paced the doubles actual with 1,303 for $320.

 

Winning Division 1 singles handicap was Shirley Giles with 904 for $500, Alison Lisseman of Shelby Township won Division 2 with 829 for $400 and Debbie Eldridge of Macomb in Division 3 with 838 for $400. Teri White of St. Clair Shores had the top actual singles with 759 for $250.

 

Jennifer Heyman of Macomb had the top Division 1 actual all-events with 2,062 for $70, Debra Ullman in Division 2 with 1,786 for $40 and Debbie Eldridge in Division 3 with 1,615 for $35.

 

Division 1 handicap all-events was won by Shirley Giles with 2,314 for $70, Debra Ullman won Division 2 with 2,320 for $50 and Debbie Eldridge in Division 3 with 2,335 for $50.

 

Terry Wieman of Center Line won the senior handicap all-events with 2,231 for $40.

 

Virginia Austin of Detroit won the Senior Queens, a special side event, for $150.

 

Next year’s tournament will be at Cherry Hill Lanes in Dearborn Heights beginning Feb. 28.
