NATIONAL SENIOR BOWLING

 

Bob Michaux Jr. of Detroit won the National Senior Bowling Association event at Plaza Lanes in Plymouth with an exciting 239-235 triumph over Dave Eatmon of Ferndale .

 

Michaux took home the top prize of $1,000. He qualified 23rd and proceeded to beat Ed Austreng of Waterford Township 234-223, Ron Koeske of Fenton 238-231, Steve Scherle of Canada 213-184 and George Humphry of Grosse Pointe Farms 203-202 en route to the title match.

 

Eatmon qualified third and won the runner-up prize of $500. In match play he defeated Lloyd McNabb of Warren 239-194, Dave Tulak of Taylor 220-215 and Jim Magolan of Shelby Township 236-200 on his way to the championship match.

 

Joe Buffa of Macomb Township was the top qualifier and also recorded the top game with 300.

 

Local bowlers who fared well were Jim Burton of Novi for $100, Ed Austreng of Waterford Township $90 and Phil Horowitz of West Bloomfield $90.

 

The next NSBA event will be April 12 at Five Star Lanes in Sterling Heights .

MICHIGAN STATE MASTERS

 

There’s still time to enter the inaugural Michigan State Masters Tournament. The event will be held on Saturday and Sunday, April 12 and 13 at Royal Scot Lanes in Lansing .

 

The format is six games of qualifying and cut to the top 16 or 32 players (depending on the qualifying field size). Match play would consist of two-game double elimination matches.

 

A first place prize of $5,000 plus entry into the 2008 USBC Masters and second place of $2,500 are guaranteed.

 

The entry fee is $150. Competitors will be bowling on the 2006 USBC Masters lane pattern.
