Gerald
Imhoff, 67, of
Imhoff,
a 158-average bowler, qualified second for the stepladder finals after ending up
154 pins over average for the five games of qualifying and preliminary rounds
leading to the finals. His actual scores were 213, 137, 194, 214 and 186 for an
actual five-game total of 944.
In
the stepladder semi-finals Imhoff beat Neal Chapman of
“It’s
unbelievable. The 227 and 248 games I shot in the finals were among my best
games of the season.” said the jubilant Imhoff. “I guess timing is
everything.”
Canzoneri,
21, of
Chapman,
189 average, earlier defeated Nancy Grobbel, 172 average, of
Chapman
took home $2,500 and Grobbel $1,000.

The
event began with 88 bowlers, who qualified through their USBC certified league,
bowling three games before the field was cut in half. After the fourth game the
field was cut to the top 10 and finally to the top four after fives games to
determine the stepladder finalists.
The
Metro Detroit USBC Association, Western Wayne County USBC Association and the
Bowling Centers Association of Southeastern Michigan teamed up in the program
which brought excitement to USBC certified league bowling.
