METRO DETROIT USBC WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS

 

The Metro Detroit USBC Association (MDUSBC) Women’s Championship has concluded at Cherry Hill Lanes in Dearborn Heights .

 

The HSC / Vise I team, captained by Kristy King of Sterling Heights , prevailed in the actual team standings with a score of 3,352. Others on the team were Jennifer Churchill of Windsor, Kimberly Sisk of Brownstown, Sarah Hillier of Davison and Michelle Ewald of Clinton Township .

 

Pacing the Division I handicap team was Second Time Around, captained by Debra Dickerson of Detroit . Their score was 3,697 which include 523 pins in handicap. The rest of the team consisted of Lauren Roberts of Warren , Carol Glinn of St. Clair Shores , Carol Roberts of Ferndale and Felicia Dickerson of Detroit .

 

Beer Babes with captain Erin Carter of Dearborn Heights took the Division II handicap team with 3,598 including 826 pins in handicap. Carter was joined by Kelly Epling of Brownstown, Susan Haener of Southgate , Heather Neuman of Brownstown and Heather Atkinson of Taylor .

 

In Division III team handicap the Brew Crew took honors with 3,641 with 1,152 in handicap. Joining team captain Helen Ullman of Warren were Lisa Roelfs of Commerce Township, Debra Ullman of Royal Oak, Laura Tamachaski of Clawson and Beatrice Phillips of Leonard.

 

In doubles competition Ricki Schneider of Detroit and Breena Schneider of Detroit teamed up to take the actual doubles with 1,484.

 

Jennifer Burke of Ferndale and Brook Grzadzinski of New Baltimore won the Division I handicap doubles with 1,618. Topping the Division II handicap doubles was Nancy Nowak of Westland and Nancy Austin of St. Clair Shores with 1,504. Nina Frankowski of St. Clair Shores and Joanna Beach-Bordui of St. Clair Shores were tops in Division III handicap doubles with 1,537.

 

Shameta Strong-Glenn of Redford topped the actual singles with 726.

 

Strong-Glenn tied Karen Whitmore of Detroit with 804 for the Division I handicap singles. Shelly Gordon of Dearborn with 829 and Colleen Goralski of Warren with 800 topped the Division II and Division III handicap singles respectively.

 

Suzanne Hyvonen of St. Clair Shores paced the Senior Handicap All-Events with a score of 2,221.

 

In Division I All-Events Carolyn Wilson of Roseville won the actual with 2,095 and handicap with 2,353.

 

Yolanda McGrier of Detroit was tops in Division II with 1,820 actual and 2,360 handicap tallies.

 

Mary Jones of Southgate with 1,519 paced the Division II actual and Dana Lipsett of Roseville the handicap with 2,282.

 

The finals of the Senior Queens will be contest Saturday at Cherry Hill Lanes. The top 12 eligible seniors will by vying for the crown. The finalists are Debra Dickerson of Detroit , Rebecca Duffey of Brownstown, Suzanne Hyvonen of St. Clair Shores , Susan Labiak of Utica , Gwendolyn Finley of Detroit , Carol Roberts of Ferndale , Jeanesta Fossett of Livonia , Leona Obuchowski of Ferndale , Vera Johnson of Detroit , Valorie Dunlap of Rochester Hills, Patti Bryans of Warren and Crystal Trombley of St. Clair Shores .

 

Prize checks will be issued in the next two weeks.

BOWLING ON TV THIS WEEKEND

 

The PBA Women’s Series Showdown presented by the USBC will be telecast on Sunday on ESPN2 beginning at 1 p.m. from the Kegel Training Center in Lake Wales, Fla. The six competitors are Michelle Feldman of Auburn , N.Y. ; Stefanie Nation of Arlington , Tex. ; Carolyn Dorin-Ballard of Keller , Tex. ; Jodi Woessner of Oregon , Ohio ; Wendy MacPherson of Henderson , Nev. ; and Missy Bellinder of Fullerton, Calif. They will be competing for a $25,000 first prize.
