MICHIGAN MAJORS

 

Ken Wyatt of Sterling Heights won his ninth Budweiser Michigan Majors title with a narrow 214-213 win over top seed Joe Manor of Lansing at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park .

 

Wyatt qualified second and beat Rawson Mansour of Sterling Heights 255-219 to advance to the championship match. Wyatt took home the top prize of $1,000. Runner-up Manor settled for $600.

 

The stepladder finals began with Brian Newcomb of Romulus beating Rick Gregor of Sterling Heights 245-227. Mansour then defeated Newcomb 255-223.

 

Mansour earned $500, Newcomb $400 and Gregor $300.

 

Local bowlers who cashed were Jeff Grego of Waterford Township for $220, Dave Eatmon of Ferndale $160 and Claudio Lopez of Pontiac $120.

 

The next Michigan Majors event will be August 22 at Galaxy Lanes in Grand Blanc.

NATIONAL SENIOR BOWLING ASSOCIATION

 

B.J Galloway of Alpena easily defeated Dave Tulak of Taylor 234-183 to win the National Senior Bowling Association event at Merri Bowl Lanes in Livonia .

 

Galloway qualified 16th and proceeded to beat Bill Stewart of Plainwell 200-177, Gary Treier of Redford 232-175, Dick Selgo of Archbold , Ohio 224-147 and Perk Fairris of Flint 193-182 to advance to the championship match. Galloway walked away with the top cash prize of $1,000.

 

Tulak earned $500 after qualifying third and winning matches over Ernie Segura Sr. of Taylor 224-202, Ken Lang of Eastpointe 270-176 and Bill Haynes of Rochester Hills 212-204 to advance.

 

Fairris was the top qualifier and also recorded the top game of 297.

 

Local senior bowlers who fared well were Bill Haynes for $250, Mark Hatchigian of Novi $150, Dan Mayer of Waterford Township $110, Larry Foote of West Bloomfield $90, Dave Eatmon of Ferndale $90 and Joe Fitzsimmons of Waterford Township $90.

 

The next NSBA event will be July 11 at Superbowl Lanes in Canton .
