NATIONAL SENIOR BOWLING ASSOCIATION

 

Joe Krajenke of Clinton Township won his first National Senior Bowling Association tournament with a narrow 180-175 victory over Joe Buffa of Macomb Township at Sterling Lanes in Sterling Heights .

 

Krajenke qualified sixth and then beat Dick Selgo of Archbold , Ohio 216-198, Mike McCleskey of Southfield 203-160 and John Thomasma of Kalamazoo 266-190 to advance to the championship match. Krajenke took home the top prize of $1,000. He also had the top game of the competition with 266.

 

Buffa received the runner up check of $500 after defeating Rick Capaldi of Canton 256-191, Lance Williams of Warren 223-211, Dan Mayer of Waterford Township 265-229 and Mike Chapman of Garden City 206-198.

 

Dave Tulak of Taylor was the top qualifier.

 

Oakland County cashers were Dan Mayer for $150, Ken Kossick of Commerce Township $150, Mike McCleskey $150, Jim Burton of Novi $100, Joe Fitzsimmons of Waterford Township $100, Ed Austreng of Waterford Township $75, Bill Haynes of Rochester Hills $75 and Phil Horowitz of West Bloomfield $60.

BUDWEISER MICHIGAN MAJORS

 

Terry Haines of Dearborn Heights captured his first Budweiser Michigan Majors title with a 265-206 win over Mason Brantley of Detroit at Bay Lanes in Bay City .

 

Haines qualified fifth for the stepladder finals and proceeded to defeat Larry Walker of Garden City 247-216, Mike Norris Jr. of Livonia 245-181 and Chris Klein of Lincoln Park 279-228 to advance to the championship match.

 

Haines took home the top check of $1,200, Brantley $600, Klein $500, Norris Jr. $400 and Walker $300.

 

The next MMBA event will be the Championship tournament on Nov. 21 at Cherry Hill Lanes in Dearborn Heights .
