MDUSBC JUNIOR MASTERS

 

The Metro Detroit USBC Association Junior Masters will be held at Country Lanes in Farmington on Saturday, Oct. 24.

 

Defending girls champion Aleksandra Hudak of Taylor will return to defend her title. The 2008 boys champion will not defend his title because he has moved to adult competition and thus ineligible.

 

Both runners-up, Brianne Schmansky of Westland and Michael Magyar of Oxford , are already entered.

 

The format is six games of qualifying before cutting the field to the top five boys and top four girls, who will advance to a stepladder finals.

 

The event is a USBC Junior Gold qualifying event.

 

There are still openings available at a cost of $45 per entrant.

GLOBETROTTING NOLEN WINS IN HONG KONG

 

John Nolen of Waterford Township , 2009 USBC Masters Champion, won the 35th Annual Hong Kong International Open Masters title in Hong Kong , China .

 

His 233-197 triumph over Yannaphon Larpapharat of Thailand earned him the top prize of approximately $6,450 U.S. Dollars.

 

Nolen paced the qualifying with a 16-game total of 3,531, an average of 220.6 ahead of the only other American competing in the competition Lonnie Waliczek of Wichita , Kan.

 

Waliczek finished third in the event.

FINAL DAY OF ADULT YOUTH TOURNEY

 

Sunday, Oct. 11 is the final day of the MDUSBC Adult Youth tournament at Country Lanes in Farmington .

 

This fun-filled event pairs an adult and youth bowler competing for scholarships for the youth bowler.

 

The entry fee is $30 and walk-ins are welcome.

BOWLERS TO VETERANS LINK FUNDRAISER

 

The Metro Detroit USBC Association (MDUSBC) will host a fundraiser in support of the Bowlers to Veterans Link (BVL) on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 1 p.m. at Sunnybrook Lanes in Sterling Heights .

 

The cost is $20 for three games of no-tap includes pizza, door prizes and mystery games. There will be 50/50 drawings and silent auctions.

 

Businesses can get involved as lane sponsors as can leagues.

 

In the last year’s over $3,240 was raised in the one-squad event.

 

BVL is a national nonprofit charitable organization which raises about $1 million annually to fund a variety of recreational equipment and therapeutic supplies for America ’s veterans.
