BUDWEISER MICHIGAN MAJORS

 

Matt Randall of Allen Park won his third Budweiser Michigan Majors title with a 237-223 triumph over Jeff Edwards of Sterling Heights at Five Star Lanes in Sterling Heights .

 

Randall qualified third for the stepladder finals and defeated Rick Schultz of Warren 246-214 and Trey Raynes of Wayne 256-236 en route to the championship match. Randall took home the top prize of $1,000.

 

“My dad comes to almost all the tournaments.”, said champion Randall. “He has missed all three times I have won. I will just tell him to stay home and I’ll call in the results.”

 

Edwards was the top seed for the finals and settled for $500.

 

The stepladder finals began with Schultz dispatching Mike Norris Jr. of Melvindale 226-211.

 

Raynes took home $400, Schultz $350 and Norris $300.

 

Youth bowler Aaron Lorincz of Belleville was the top qualifier with a six-game total of 1,443, but faltered in the three-game semi-final finishing ninth for a scholarship of $230. Another youth bowler, Erik Stanley of Warren , placed 12th and earned a $100 scholarship.

 

The lone local casher was Jeff Austreng of Waterford Township for $140.

 

The next MMBA event will be August 21 at Galaxy Lanes in Grand Blanc.
