SENIOR ALL-CITY TEAMS

 

The Metro Detroit USBC Association (MDUSBC) has named their Senior All-City teams for the 2009-10 season.

 

The teams include senior men’s and senior women’s teams based on tournament and league performance from June 1, 2009 through May 31, 2010.

 

Joseph Krajenke of Clinton Township and Nancy Dietrich of Clinton Township are captains of the senior men’s and senior women’s teams respectively. Krajenke gained the prestigious nod for the first time in his career.

 

Captaining the senior men’s All-City team is Joseph Krajenke of Clinton Township with 90½ points. He is appearing for the first time on the senior team with a 14th place finish in the MDUSBC Senior Masters, first among seniors in the MDUSBC Doubles with Chris Sand, sixth among seniors in MDUSBC Singles, first among seniors in MDUSBC All-Events, fifth among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State Senior Masters, tied for sixth among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State Doubles with David Ewald and fifth among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State All-Events. He had three 300 games, one 299 game, high series of 844 and a high average of 225.

 

The senior men’s first team was completed with David Tulak of Taylor (72), Leonard Cianciolo of Warren (70), Charles Graddick of Detroit (64) and Richard Eiermann of Garden City (61). Two-time veterans Tulak, Graddick and Eiermann are joined by newcomer Cianciolo.

 

Tulak finished 20th in the MDUSBC Senior Masters, 11th in MDUSBC Masters, ninth among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State Doubles with Steve Allen and second among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State All-Events. He had a high average of 232, four 300 games, one 299 game and four 800 series with 814 as the high.

 

Cianciolo was second from MDUSBC and third overall in the Michigan State Senior Masters, had seven 300 games, four 800 series with 838 as his best and a high average of 235.

 

Graddick was fourth among seniors in MDUSBC Doubles with Paul Benedict, 10th among seniors in MDUSBC Singles and third among seniors in MDUSBC All-Events. His resume was completed with three 300 games, two 299 games, two 800 series with a 828 high and a high average of 233.

 

Eiermann was first from MDUSBC and second overall in the Michigan State Senior Masters, was 10th among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State Doubles with Jim Grant, first among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State Singles and sixth among MDUSBC seniors in the Michigan State All-Events. He had one 300 game and a high average of 226.

 

Larry Walker of Garden City (55), Edwin Austreng of Waterford Township (47), J.L. Jones of Lincoln Park (46), Jimmy Magolan of Shelby Township (46) and Kenneth McMillan of Livonia (45) round out the senior men’s second team. Austreng is making his fourth appearance, Walker his third and Magolan and McMillan their second. Jones is the lone rookie.

 

Nancy Dietrich of Clinton Township , with 64 points, is the captain of the senior women’s All-City team. She was fourth in the MDUSBC Queens, second among seniors in the MDUSBC Singles, second among seniors in MDUSBC All-Events, fourth among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State Doubles with Carol Roberts, seventh among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State Singles and second among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State All-Events. She is making her second appearance after a one-year absence, had a high game of 300, high series of 726 and high average of 204.

 

Virginia Austin of Warren (60), Yvonne Ogburn of Detroit (57), Sandra Zureki of Dearborn (49) and Susan Labiak of Utica (33) completed the senior women’s first team. Ogburn was named for the fourth time, Austin the third, while Zureki and Labiak are appearing for the first time.

 

Austin finished second in the MDUSBC Senior Queens, third among seniors in MDUSBC Doubles with Michelle Robinson, third among seniors in MDUSBC Singles and was the top senior in the MDUSBC All-Events. She had one 300 game, one 290 game and a high average of 219.

 

Ogburn won the MDUSBC Senior Queens and was third among seniors in MDUSBC All-Events. Three 300 games, three series over 700 with a 791 high and a high average of 220 completed her resume.

 

Zureki bowled well in the Michigan State tournament as the top MDUSBC senior in Doubles with Penelope Morgan, first among MDUSBC seniors in Singles and third among MDUSBC seniors in All-Events. Along with her high average of 209 she had one 300 game.

 

Labiak was second among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State Doubles with Lauren Roberts and first among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State All-Events. She had two series over 700 with a 711 high and a high average of 207.

 

Debra Dickerson of Detroit (32), Susan Szachta of Warren (28) Gwendolyn Finley of Detroit (23), Pamela Parker (22), Karen Whitmore of Detroit (21) and Vera Johnson of Detroit (20) achieved senior women’s second team status. Szachta and Finley are appearing for the fourth time, Dickerson her third, Whitmore her second, while Parker and Johnson earned the honor for the first time.

 

Points are tabulated on performance in the local, state and national tournaments; honor scores and league averages.
