MDUSBC SENIOR QUEENS

 

Yvonne Ogburn of Detroit won the Metro Detroit USBC Association Senior Queens on Saturday with a 231-227 triumph over Virginia Austin of Warren at Century Bowl in Waterford Township .

 

Ogburn was the top qualifier for the stepladder finals with a four-game total of 853 on games of 202-216-188-247. Ogburn took home the top prize of $200.

 

Austin qualified second with 800. She beat Sue Szachta of Warren 212-176 to advance to the final match. Austin settled for $150.

 

Szachta began the stepladder finals with a 225-204 triumph over Vera Johnson of Detroit . Szachta took home $120 and Johnson $100 for their efforts.

 

This was the third year of the MDUSBC Senior Queens. Initial qualifying was done by senior women 50 years of age and older with their actual all-events of the recently completed MDUSBC Women’s Championship. The top eight advanced to the qualifying finals.

 

Other cashers were Sheree Jones of Detroit who took home $75, Carol Roberts of Ferndale $65, Crystal Trombley of St. Clair Shores $65, Pamela Parker of Southfield $40, Jeanesta Fossett of Livonia $40, Melinda Hylton of Taylor $40, Gwendolyn Finley of Detroit $40 and Valorie Dunlap of Rochester Hills $40.

MDUSBC WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP

 

The Metro Detroit USBC Association Women’s Championship has concluded at Century Bowl in Waterford Township .

 

Topping Division 1 team event was The “Fun” Team with a handicap score of 3,692. Cynthia Ludeman of Chesterfield led the team with 649. Others on the team were Erica Filiccia of Chesterfield with 646, Ralene DeVille of Warren 571, Kimberly Bauer of Warren 545 and Brandy DeVille of Warren 531.

 

Emerald Coast Construction won the Division 2 team event with a score of 3,620. Dana Lipsett of Roseville was the leader with 611, followed by Kathleen Krok of Chesterfield with 608, Denise Lipsett of Roseville 590, Karola McQuade of Shelby Township 497 and Yokie VanVallis of Chesterfield 429.

 

The Brew Crew team took home the crown in Division 3 team event. Their 3,574 score included 570 by Beatrice Phillips of Leonard, Debra Ullman of Royal Oak shot 513, Lisa Roelfs of Commerce Township 500, Laura Tamachaski of Clawson 467 and Helen Ullman of Warren 431.

 

The top actual team score was shot by the For KRK team with 3,254. Michelle Ewald of Clinton Township had the top score with 713. Other scores were Melissa Lynch of Macomb with 704, Melissa Klug of Macomb 649, Felicia Goll of St. Clair Shores 642 and Teri Broughton of Sterling Heights 546.

 

Pacing Division 1 doubles was Danielle Bradley of Oak Park and Karen Whitmore of Detroit with a handicap score of 1,547. Sandra Arrastibia of Fraser and Jennifer Kargula of Warren won the Division 2 doubles with 1,470. In Division 3 Tammi Brennan of Sterling Heights and Julie Kinney of Oxford tied Amy Lenz of White Lake and Rose Aubuchon of Shelby Township with 1,500. Melissa Klug and Michelle Ewald won the actual crown with 1,390.

 

Benita Coursen of Lake Orion won the Division 1 singles with a handicap score of 834. Melissa Hearth of Warren shot 813 while winning Division 2 and Brandy DeVille won Division 3 with 872. The top actual singles score was recorded by Michelle Ewald with 758.

 

Nicole Aleo of Sterling Heights paced the Division 1 actual all-events with 2,131, Rosemary Turner of Detroit was tops in Division 2 with 1,717 and Roxanne Tances of Harrison Township in Division 3 with 1,775.

 

In handicap all-events, Division 1 was won by Monika Jones of Detroit with 2,297, Division 2 Melissa Hearth with 2,276 and Roxanne Tances with 2,429.

 

In Senior handicap all-events Emma McKnight of Detroit was the leader with 2,243.

 

Next year’s event will be held at Astro Lanes in Madison Heights . All prizes checks were mailed on March 18.

The Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour will feature the Go RVing Match Play Championship from Norwich , Conn. The telecast will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday on ESPN.
