NATIONAL SENIOR BOWLING ASSOCIATION

Gerald Johnson of Riverview not only led qualifying but charged all the way through match play and defeated Steve Jakubowski of Temperance 211-200 to win the National Senior Bowling Association event at Sterling Lanes in Sterling Heights .

After qualifying first he defeated Dan Mytty of Livonia 244-220, Dick Selgo of Archbold , Ohio 195-194 and Larry Franz of Redford 222-212 to advance to the championship match. Johnson took home the top prize of $1,000.

Jakubowski qualified third and in match play beat Dave Tulak of Taylor 255-207, Joe Krajenke of Clinton Township 214-178 and Dan Mayer of Waterford Township 226-214. Jakubowski earned $500.

Krajenke also had the top single game with 300.

Local cashers were Mayer for $200 and Kevin Scott of Ferndale for $90.
